The Mineral County Historical Society and Museum was established  in 1976 “To collect, protect and preserve materials, archives and artifacts from our historical, geologic and geographic area.” Since that time, the museum has grown to feature a comprehensive collection documenting the region’s history. It also maintains a local history archive that serves as a valuable resource for genealogical researchers. The museum is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00-5:00 PM and by appointment.

In addition to this website, you can download the Next Exit History free mobile app that links you to nearby historical sites using your mobile device’s GPS. You can download “backpacks” of sites to your device to develop your own self-guided tour for the region, allowing you to view content without a wireless or cellular connection.
